# Is Cryptocurrency or Trading Income Accepted for Brazil's Digital Nomad Visa?

Yes, cryptocurrency and trading income can qualify for Brazil's VITEM XIV digital nomad visa, but only if you can document it the same way as any other foreign-source income: as a consistent stream you can prove on paper. What the immigration analyst looks for is regularity and traceability. Realized income that lands in your bank account each month (crypto you convert to fiat, or trading profits you withdraw) is far stronger than unrealized holdings sitting in a wallet. The income must come from outside Brazil; profits earned through a Brazilian exchange or Brazilian clients count as Brazilian-source and are not eligible. If your crypto or trading income is volatile or hard to evidence, the cleaner route is often the savings alternative of US$18,000 held over the prior six months.

## What kind of crypto income qualifies

-   Regular conversions to fiat that show up as deposits in your bank statements over the last 6 months — the single strongest evidence.
-   Exchange account statements (Kraken, Coinbase, Binance International, etc.) showing a consistent withdrawal or earnings history.
-   A trading profit-and-loss statement plus prior-year tax returns that declare the crypto or trading income.
-   Staking, lending, or yield income paid out on a regular schedule and documented by the platform.

## What usually does not qualify

-   Unrealized holdings — coins sitting in a wallet with no income drawn from them are treated as assets, not income.
-   Income routed through a Brazilian exchange or paid by Brazilian clients — that is Brazilian-source income, which the VITEM XIV does not permit.
-   A single large windfall with no track record — analysts look for a repeatable monthly stream, not one lucky trade.
